Awex Mumbai and Quantoom's High-Level Seminar - Success15/03/2023

The Wallonia Export-Investment Agency(AWEX MUMBAI ), The Consulate General of Belgium, Mumbai together with Quatoom Biosciences, organized a high-level Seminar based on Walloon Bio-technology /Lifesciences Ecosystem and next-generation mRNA vaccines in Hyderabad recently.

Our Consul General Mr. Frank Geerkens opened the seminar with his valuable remarks. Quantoom Bio science’s CEO Mr. Jose Castillo presented Quantoom’s mission to take mRNA-based vaccines & therapeutics to next level.

Dr. Harish Iyer, Deputy Director for Digital & Health Innovation at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, moderated a panel discussion with Dr.Pragya Yadav, Director of the National Institute of Virology, Dr. Dharmendra Raghuwanshi, Ph.D of the Serum Institute, Dr. Vikram Paradkar of Biological E, Mr. Jose Castillo, and AWEX Senior Life Sciences Specialist Mehdy Oozeer.

The discussion panel was about how innovators and vaccine producers from India can establish research, (pre-)clinical development and can scale up capabilities to seize the potential of next-generation mRNA vaccines, in order to deliver the needed vaccines to anyone in the world and potentially help localize productions in LMICs.  Experts shared their insights and perspectives on how India can become a leader in R&D and the production of mRNA vaccines and therapeutics for the benefit of the global population.

Mr. Mehdy Oozeer our Senior Life Sciences Specialist showcased Wallonia’s world-class life science research environment, especially in Cell & Gene Therapy, Vaccines & Biology, and Healthcare Innovation. A very diverse and growing ecosystem of 250 players, 12 Global leaders, 400 research units from 5 universities, and more than 90% of the health biotech and MedTech players in Wallonia.

The topic was very interesting therefore the questions and answers session was ongoing. The seminar witnessed high-level dignitaries from the research and innovation field.
